Here's an interesting Dan Armstrong, which at one point was owned by guitarist Dave Casillas of the punk-rock band NOFX. Casillas was with the band during their 1987 tour and related EP-release "The P.M.R.C. Can Suck on This." It sure looks like a Dan Armstrong on the EP's cover, shown at left. Seller said that it was Casillas who did the bridge conversion, and also inscribed his SS number on the back of the guitar. For those that don't remember, Wikipedia states: "The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was an American committee formed in 1985 with the stated goal of increasing parental control over the access of children to music deemed to have violent, drug-related or sexual themes via labeling albums with Parental Advisory stickers." "Original Dan Armstrong Ampeg guitar. Includes original case and one original pickup [Ed. - RT]. Also have a modern pickup available. The bridge was replaced and the body was slightly altered for a better fit. I believe the tuners were replaced as well. Only the volume pot is present. There was a headstock repair performed at some point. This guitar was owned by one of the earliest guitar players for legendary punk band NOFX, and even went on tour with the band during the 80's. The original case is covered in stickers and a NOFX decal. The interior was dyed for a different look. This is far from a museum piece, but an absolute beast of a player. Don't miss your chance to own this rare guitar." |
