This guitar came up for auction in July 2013 with an initial asking price of $1,700. Received 8 bids and sold for $2,150. Comes with an original CB pickup and a reissue Ampeg case with the blue check covering. Here's what the seller had to say:
"UP FOR BID IS THIS ORIGINAL 1969 AMPEG DAN ARMSTRONG LUCITE GUITAR ( EARLY PRODUCTION) THE INSTRUMENT IS STOCK, WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE WIRING UPGRADED TO THE 1971 FACTORY SPECS ( MORE USABLE PICKUP OPTION) BACK IN THE 1970s. THE ORIGINAL HARD CASE WAS DISCARDED AND REPLACED WITH A NICE, NEWER MODEL AMPEG CASE MADE FOR THE RE-ISSUES FROM ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. INCLUDES THE INSTALLED ORIGINAL PICKUP, AND ONE NEW RE-ISSUE PICKUP ( INSIDE THE CASE POCKET) CURRENT BLUE BOOK ON THIS MODEL IS : $2200-$2800, BUT I'M STARTING THE BIDDING AT MUCH LESS THAN THAT."
"7/26/13 ADDED 5 MORE PHOTOS AT THE REQUEST OF A WATCHER. THE PRINTING ON THE BACK OF THE HEADSTOCK IS A STICKER FROM APEX MUSIC IN SAN DIEGO, CA. YOU CAN SEE THAT THE ORIGINAL SCHALLER TUNERS ARE STILL ON IT. PHOTO OF THE "CB" PICKUP INSTALLED, AND ALSO REMOVED FROM THE GUITAR.. THERE ARE NO CHIPS OR CRACKS IN THE PICKGUARD, IT'S IN PERFECT CONDITION. THE "DAN ARMSTRONG AMPEG" GRAPHICS ARE PERFECT, NO WEAR OR FLAKING. THE BACK OF THE MAPLE NECK HAS NORMAL WEAR,, SMALL DINGS AND FAINT SCRATCES, BUT NOTHING SERIOUS." |
