We found this 1969 Dan Armstrong on the J-Guitar web site, which showcases guitars from numerous dealers across Japan. The guitar is being offered by Guitar Shelter, which seems to have a well-stocked physical store. The owner, Mr. Yasushi Nisimura, was gracious in responding to our e-mail request for the serial number so that we could catalog this instrument.
A542D seems to be in very nice overall condition, but it looks like the original pickguard has cracked and been replaced by an aftermarket part. The knobs have also been replaced, and possibly the pots as well. Comes with an original CB pickup. A prior owner also seems to have engraved his name on the back, which adds some history to the instrument. The asking price is ¥270000, which is about US$2,180 at current exchange rates.
