This is a super clean example of a very early 1969 Dan Armstrong bass that came up in an eBay auction in November 2011. Serial number D217A was confirmed by e-mail. Seller was internet dealer Gary's Classic Guitars, who seems to specialize in investment-grade gear. Asking price was $2,595.

"Genuine vintage original 1969 Ampeg Dan Armstrong bass for sale. This is a very early example! The bass plays and sounds great! The bass is clean and all original. The electronics work properly and the pickup sounds amazing! If you have never played an original Ampeg Dan Armstrong Lucite bass you are in for a real treat. This one has a huge bass sound! The neck feels great and the frets are in fine shape. There is some play wear on the back of the neck on the surface only. The Lucite body has only light surface marks. There are no damages, breaks or repairs. This is a great example. Ships pro packed & professionally setup with the original hard case."
