D513A
This DA bass came up for sale in May 2014 with an asking price of $2,995.
"Up
for sale is one 1970 Dan Armstrong Lucite bass! All original except one
pot. Missing one screw and the thumb rest. Excellent example of a
really cool instrument! Big sound! Comes with the OHSC!"
Q: Could you post the serial number so we can date the instrument. You will find it printed on the side of the neck heel where it bolts into the body. Will be something like DxxxA, with either 3 or 4 digits between the letters. Pic would also be great. Also, is the pickguard cracked at all around the input jack? THX A: Hi, the serial # is D513A, no pick-guard crack. Pot dates 36 week 1970. Thanks, Val |
D513A is back on the market as of July 2015 with an asking price of $2,000 (Ebay auction). Bass is in overall excellent condition and the original pickup looks to be intact (no flaking), but there are an extra set of holes in the pick guard and body where someone moved the thumb rest.
"1970 Dan Armstrong Lucite Bass, serial number D513A. Great shape, no breaks or cracks or rust. I think it needs new strings. The thumb rest itself is missing, there are holes for upper or lower thumb rest positions. Electronics work well, pickup is amazing. Original case is in good shape, all latches work and no tears."
