D811A
Sold for $1,076 in February 2013.
"Here for your consideration is a rare and vintage Lucite Dan Armstrong Ampeg bass. The serial number is D811A, which we believe makes it an 1969 or early 1970. It weighs in at a svelte 9 pounds 14 ounces. The bass plays and sounds killer. The body is in excellent shape with only a few minor scratches. The frets have very little wear and are totally playable. The tuners have been changed to Schallers, but there are no extra holes. Apparently the original tuners will not accommodate modern bass strings. The thumb rest is missing. The bass has no case but will be packed as if it was your grandmother’s china. It’s not often you get a chance at one of these rock icons. It has to be one of the coolest looking instruments ever made. Please scroll down and look at all the pictures. This is a no-reserve auction with a $0.99 opening bid."
