Country Bass (CB) Pickup Page
The Country Bass (CB) pickup was one of two standard pickups supplied with each Dan Armstrong guitar for most of the 1969 - 1971 manufacturing run. As such, they're one of the easiest pickups to find in the aftermarket. Here's a summary of what's come on the market over the last few years and what each seller was asking.

This one came on the market in November 2023 with an asking price of $295 (sold for $255). Great set of pics and about as clean as they come.

This one came on the market in October 2023 with an original asking price of $400, which was then reduced to $300. These pickups with the side labels are from the very first production run and are believed to be identical to the later pickups.
Condition is almost excellent, with just a small chip on the bottom. |

This CB pickup came up on Reverb in January 2017 with an asking price of $216.50 (plus shipping from Paris). Seems to be in good conditon and reasonably priced, seller said "it works perfectly."

Came on the market in April 2016 with a starting price of $199, and ultimately sold for that price in May.
"You are looking at a genuine vintage Dan Armstrong Ampeg pickup, circa 1969. Part of the collection of items I kept upon retiring from my business after 38 years, Guitar Emporium, in Louisville, Ky. Very good condition, showing normal wear, with some dings and chips. Model: CB (country bass) 11.82k ohms. Nice addition to your vintage Dan Armstrong Ampeg." |

Very nice CB, purchased for 120 Euro in October 2015. First owner said that it was originally sold by Crowleys Music store in Cork, Ireland, the same store which sold Rory Gallagher his famous Fender Strat.

This CB pickup came on the market in February 2015 with an initial asking price of $49 (final sale price of $162). Seems cheap, but looks like someone has rounded the corners off for some reason, which makes you wonder how close they came to cutting into the wiring. But assuming it works, seems like a cheap price for a spare...

Here's Chelsea Guitars again with another CB pickup. This one sells for $375 on May 2014. Seems like pickup prices have started to move up.

This CB was one of several pickups that came on the market in March/April 2014, all being sold by NYC dealer Chelsea Guitars. Pickup sold for $377 in April 2014.

This one sold in 2013 for only £3.20 from someone in the UK. Condition looks to be poor with several cracks, so perhaps it's not surprising that the pickup is dead.

This one sold for $158 in September 2012.

This one sold for $87 in June 2012. Seller was parting out A2160D at the time.

Sold for $76 in April 2012 - buyer seems to have gotten a good price as condition looks to be above average.

This is about as perfect as they come - nice clean edges, just the right amount of patina, and no cracking. Sold for $225 in December 2011.

This CB came on the market in March 2011 and sold for $142. Pickup seems to be in nice shape.
