This ultra-rare NOS assembly came on the market in March 2015 and sold for $500. Pot codes are 1377036 and 1377035, which are the correct codes for CTS volume/tone pots toward the end of the manufacturing run. Here's what the seller had to say...
"This auction is for a pick guard and wiring harness for a late 60s early 70s AMPEG Dan Armstrong Lucite model. The pick guard is in excellent to near mint condition and the wiring harness is NOS (New Old Stock) and comes complete with everything except knobs. I had purchased them about 25 years ago when I had a few of the Dan Armstrongs to have as spares!" |

This pickguard also came on the market in March 2015 with an asking price of $150 and sold for $75. As you can see from the photos, there is damage around the switch area, but not to the point where you couldn't use a washer to hide the problem and stabilize it for use. This is one of the later pickguards which were slightly thicker and had a slight pattern in the surface of the formica.

This NOS bass pickguard and truss rod cover came on the market and sold for $129.99 on October 18, 2015. Very hard to find items. Seller also had a number of additional truss rod covers for sale at $29/each.

Here's a cool custom pickguard that came on the market in January 2016 with an asking price of $95. "Cool vintage item custom-made BACK IN THE DAY, who knows, probably for a rock star?!!! Thick, heavy chrome plated metal pickguard to fit Dan Armstrong clear lucite guitars. Well made, see pics. Some tarnish and wear, and probably could be polished up like a mirror if you wanted to, but I left it the way I found it and I will let you decide. Great time period look for 70's glam, rock'n'roll, punk, etc. Basically makes the world's coolest guitar EVEN COOLER! You can see the control layout clearly -- in addition to the normal volume, tone, jack, toggle, you have three smaller holes left for mini-switches or whatever -- the possibilities are endless. You'll be the only one on your block with this pickguard. Obviously, sold as is being a one of a kind item, no returns or refunds, but I think it looks cool, but please study the condition. This set of 3 NOS pickguards was listed in Reverb in September 2016 and priced at $149 each. Appears to include two guitar pickguards and one bass pickguard. The bass pickguard sold first for an undisclosed amount, and we were able to pick up the two guitar pickguards for $80/each. Seems like a good deal for these impossible to find items.

"This listing is for a rare Dan Armstrong Ampeg Lucite guitar loaded pickguard assembly. Early more reddish pickguard, all pots dated 1970, original wiring with red die chem coating on all ends. Never installed, where ya going to find this? Great to restore your 6 string or Bass. Knobs show a little shelf wear. Been sitting around for 40 plus years, came from a collectors stash I bought several years ago." |
