This guitar came up for auction on Ebay in May 2014 with an asking price of $1,649. It's been highly modified of course with all new electronics (EMG pickup) and a Kahler tremolo unit. Here's what the seller had to say...

"69 AMPEG Dan Armstrong PLEXI GLASS Serial # 1296 D. This guitar was modded in the 80's. It has an early 80's EMG and a Kahler Tremolo. Two extra holes where open in the body to fit the Kahler, other than that no scratches or cracks very clean body. Comes setup with an unoriginal pick guard that holds the EMG pickup, no extra holes were made to fit the pick guard or pickup. Neck is very clean . No scratches or dings or even use. Super low action. Schaller tuners .Two small holes where made in the front headstock to fit the Kahler locking nut. Original case and pick guard included. Pickguard is super clean. Overall great player and a lot of potential to bring it back. Original Hard case."

Back on the market in September 2020 and being offered at $2,995 through Florida dealer The Guitar Broker. Too bad we can't travel to Florida because this would be one of our top picks to play in person just to check out the ESG pickup and intonation mods. Love those split-shaft Schaller tuners - only used for a limited time before reverting to the solid post variety.

1970 Dan Armstrong Lucite Guitar modern 80's Hair Band mods & very user friendly !
This is a totally cool & affordable “original” Lucite bodied guitar by Dan Armstrong designed in the late 60’s. It’s been highly modified from stock yet has been transformed into a heavy metal dream guitar that’s an oxymoron between vintage & modern. Its Clear Lucite body has been routed (albeit very nicely) for a Kahler Tremolo unit. Its Rosewood neck is all original other than a locking nut added. It's dated on its side w/its A & D codes claiming its date of manufacture. Its previous caretaker hated the original pickups as many do so he chose to install an active EMG pickup system all under a cool clear pickgard for all to see his clever workmanship. This is for a vintage blues guy yearning to play for “Poison” w/unlimited whammy potential & that Bon Jovi Tone ! They made a reissue of this guitar so parts are available for those but as it is, she’s a very user friendly Rock & Roll axe ! Quite clean overall & comes w/its original pickgard. Comes in a very fancy Leather Gig Bag.
