This way cool instrument came up for auction in February 2011 and sold for $2,150. While the interior of the case is a total knockout (too bad there weren't a couple photos of the exterior) the guitar also sports an interesting custom brass saddle in place of the rosewood bridge.

This is the guitar that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards used in the late 60's and early 70's (Exile era), and more recently Foo Fighter's DAVE GROHL uses. This rare original model is one of the very first ever made, and it's number (438 is very low since they started at the no. 200) This is stamped inside the neck pocket (See Pics). These early '69's like this had the chunky 50's neck profile that Keith Richards liked and later changed). This guitar has NO BREAKS or repairs, and is all original with the exception of better Schaller tuners and a newer tuned bridge. This comes with two original pickups (rock & country) PLUS a rare 60's GIBSON PAT NO. pickup ($300 in itself) which looks to have been a special factory order. This guitar plays great and has been well preserved, NO SCRATCHES OR BREAKS to the plexiglass, and the neck is in very good condition, without the usual gouges or loss of finish. This comes with a handmade solid wood guitar case (check out the leopard stripe interior, COOL!!) very Keith looking!!
