"Just in at Tone Chasers Music is this 1969 Dan Armstrong Lucite. This guitar is in excellent condition with only superficial scratches being the most significant signs of wear. The pictured additional pickups as well as the original case (needs handle) are included. Tested, functional, and as pictured."
This 1969 Dan Armstrong came up for sale in November 2015 through dealer Hatfield Guitar & Repair in Janesville, WI. This one seems to be in fantastic original condition and just screams "investment grade" at you. Pickup combo is Rock Treble / Rock Bass, which would have been unusual at the time. We actually prefer the RB pickup over the typical CB, as we think the RB is probably the best sounding of all the single-coil pickups. If you're patient, you can always find a CB pickup on Ebay. Individual RB pickups almost never come up for sale and are rarely found for sale with their original instruments.
1969 Ampeg Dan Armstrong Lucite
Rare Classic! Number A606D. And it’s all here – original case, (2) pickups (Rock Treble and Rock Bass) in Excellent condition! I could talk all day long about this beauty and about the players (Keith Richards, Greg Ginn, Dave Grohl) that still feature them on stage, but that would be bragging. According to a site dedicated to the Dan, there were only 2350 made between 1969 and 1971 – the first 100 pieces were reserved for prototype, promo and artist relations. So this would be the #506th guitar sold to the public. This one has the early 2 pole tone switch as opposed to the later 3 pole switch conversion many dealers installed. So much for the history. This guitar sounds and plays like it did when it left the factory. The action is very low and fast with very little fret wear. The body has a few very small scratches and the back of the neck is perfect. The only thing that is not original is the pickup screw was lost and I have replaced it with a SS socket head screw that works for fast pickup change. It even comes with a photo copy of the owners manual. Call for price – 608-754-2255!
